Thought to be The Queens favourite residence, Windsor Castle is the largest and oldest continuously inhabited castle in the world. It has been the family home of British kings and queens for almost 1,000 years. The castle was first built as a motte and bailey castle in 1070, by William the Conqueror, and took around 16 years to build. At Windsor you can visit State Apartments and the magnificent St George’s Chapel, the final resting place of Royalty. See Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House which was completed in 1924 as a gift for Queen Mary.
A short walk across the bridge takes you to Eaton. This is where William and Harry attended the exclusive boy’s school, Eaton. This school has also educated at least 18 British Prime Ministers.
The vibrant towns of Windsor and Eaton offer a large choice of places to lunch.
Your chauffeur will then take you on a scenic route through Runnymede where the Magna Carta was sealed over 800 years ago before taking you on to Hampton Court Palace.
A walk through this 500 year old palace will take you through the huge kitchens, where cooks had to provide banquets for over 800 people, through royal courtyards and up the stairs used by Henry VIII to the best preserved Tudor hall in Britain. Now enter the other side of the palace that was built later for William and Mary Here you can tour the state rooms designed by Sir Christopher Wren.
The extensive gardens here include the famous maze. Why not try to find your way to the centre and out again before your chauffeur drives you back to London.
