Your personal chauffeur will meet you in the lobby of your hotel at 8:00 am. This is a good time to discuss the day’s itinerary and make any changes if you need to.
If you are a fan of the TV show Downton Abbey then this is the tour for you.
Your chauffeur will take you to Highclere Castle in Berkshire, otherwise known as Downton Abbey. This is the house used by Lord and Lady Grantham and their family. Here you can walk right up to the front entrance and enter through the same doors as the Grantham’s before walking through some of the actual rooms and bedrooms used in the series. Walk up the famous staircase with the bright red carpet that you see the family use so many times.
Here you can also tour the extensive gardens of Highclere Castle before your chauffeur takes you to the village that is used for most of the outdoor scenes. Here you can walk through the church that has seen marriages, christenings and funerals from the show. You may remember it was also where Lady Mary was jilted at the altar. Walk through the entrance used for the hospital and see the houses used for other scenes including the village pub and post office. Here you will also find the Downton Abbey gift shop.
Now it’s time to sit back and relax while your chauffeur drives you back to your hotel.
